Where the natural world meets the digital: A new exploration experience with augmented reality (AR) technology
Augmented Reality (AR) technology offers Museum visitors a groundbreaking and interactive experience. Through a specially designed mobile app, visitors can “bring to life” the exhibits around them using their device’s screen.
As they explore the Museum’s halls, they can view additional digital content layered over the physical displays: unlocking stories, animations, and reconstructions that deepen their understanding and spark curiosity.
Their guide on this journey of discovery is the museum's mascot, the Pirate, who welcomes young and old alike on a voyage of knowledge and discovery.
The experience becomes even more exciting for visitors of all ages with an imaginative transformation game, where they can virtually "disguise" themselves as marine animals, such as seals, sea turtles, or colorful fish, which offers entertainment, learning and participation in an environment friendly to all ages.
The integration of Augmented Reality into the exhibition spaces enhances the understanding of history, Cyprus' rich cultural heritage, and the importance of the Mediterranean marine ecosystem.
