EXHIBITIONS

The “Aphrodite” room of the Museum exhibits unique finds from ancient shipwrecks, recovered from the sea of Cyprus and telling stories of centuries. Objects that traveled on ships that sank, bear the marks of history and reveal their origin and the people to whom they belonged.

Commercial amphorae testify to the close commercial and social relations between the islands of the Eastern Mediterranean. They transported products such as wine, oil, salted fish and other goods from each region to the markets of the Mediterranean.

The stone anchors of the Late Bronze Age (1650–1050 BC) stand out, from the time when Cyprus was an important naval hub of the Eastern Mediterranean. Hellenistic period vessels (310–30 BC), bronze arrowheads in various shapes, lead weights for fishing and nets, bronze hooks, as well as coins from the Roman Republic of the 3rd century BC, compose a mosaic of the daily life and trade of the time.

The sea guarded them for centuries. Now they emerge like silent messages from the past, inviting you to explore them.
